Viva Espana!

To celebrate Cogress’s expansion into the Spanish property market, and the recent opening of our office in Madrid, the Investor Club gathered in central London to hear members of the Spanish Cogress team discuss the risks and opportunities in Europe’s largest southern European country.

Spain’s difficulties during and after the global financial crisis are well known, but there seems less awareness of the progress they have made in recent years in recovering their economy, and the investment opportunities this change in fortunes could provide.

Tal Orly, Cogress’ CEO and his team introduced Cogress’ Spanish partners, accompanied by Marco Giovanelli (Head of Business Development of Spain), Isabel Moro (Member of the Advisory Board) and Javier Salaverri (Member of the Advisory Board).

Marco Giovanelli, Head of Business Development (Spain), provided an economic overview of the Spanish market, reflecting on the particular impact the financial crisis had in this region and the lag between current perceptions and the reality of Spanish economy. Marco then focused on the property sector specifically, illustrating where the opportunities are and the variations in different parts of the peninsula, and providing real examples of the type of property investments now emerging – particularly in urban areas.

A panel of members from Cogress’s Advisory Board (Isabel Moro and Javier Salaverri) joined Cogress CEO Tal Orly to take Q&As from the audience, allowing a wide-ranging exploration of the Spanish investment market to bring the evening to an end.
